The Foxgrove is a DJ school in NYC. It was also a pro-bono project I worked on at Pereira & O’Dell. It suffered a last minute demise, but I had a lot of fun making this.

Go to any electronic music festival, and you’ll know that EDM is colorful. Since The Foxgrove’s old brand identity was black and white, we created a way to merge the two worlds.

To me, the most amazing part of the DJ kit was that all of this wonderful music was created using the the two most basic shapes: the square and the circle. But it’s fitting since the square and circle can be incredibly imaginative used correctly – just like beats.

Shaping sounds with repetition and pauses are at the heart of all electronic music. So we visually expressed just that.

Motion Design Storyboard

We based the motion design off of the incredibly versatile launchpad buttons. Everything from which button you press to how long you press it plays an integral role, something we wanted to replicate in our design.
